Our Story - A Family Tradition In Building

For three generations, the Findlay family has been part of Canterbury’s building industry. It all started in the 1940s with Ron Findlay, a hardworking builder who took pride in quality craftsmanship. His son, Scott, joined the trade in the 1980s and was named New Zealand Apprentice Builder of the Year in 1987. Scott’s brother, John, became a qualified Quantity Surveyor, and together, they built homes across Christchurch, earning a solid reputation for reliable workmanship and attention to detail.

After the Canterbury earthquakes, Scott and his team were heavily involved in the city’s rebuild. As one of EQC’s trusted contractors, they completed over 1,500 residential repairs, helping homeowners get back on their feet. Alongside this work, they continued to take on residential and commercial projects with the same commitment to quality.

In 2024, Scott’s son, Nick, joined the business. With a fresh perspective and the same dedication to quality, Scott and Nick have rebranded the company as Proven Building Services (PBS)—a name that reflects both their experience and their focus on delivering reliable building solutions.
